Aerospace & Defence

Aerospace adhesives, sealants, and lubricants from Huntsman Corporation and Caig Laboratories are qualified for commercial and military aircraft like Boeing, Airbus, Goodrich, Gulfstream, Bell, Rohr in their specifications for maintenance, overhaul, and repair purposes.

The interior and exterior of airplanes use an extensive range of adhesives like, epoxy prepreg, syntactic epoxy, void fillers for core reinforcement, and laminating resins for composites production and repair.

Many Araldite epoxies are flame retardant and exhibit the low flame, smoke, and toxicity characteristics required to comply with regulations such as FAR 25.853 that govern materials used in large civil aircraft.

ARADUR® curing agents are supplied in liquid or solid form and can be used in conjunction with ARALDITE® epoxy resins to achieve a broad range of thermal, mechanical and electrical properties. This complete line of high-performance curing agents includes reactive polyamides, polyamide amines, aliphatic amines, cycloaliphatic amines, aromatic amines, anhydrides and novolacs.

The high-performance EPIBOND® adhesives for aerospace and automotive applications provide superior joining and bonding solutions for plastics, metals, composite materials, and other substrates. EPIBOND® adhesives offer productivity and manufacturing process improvements, as well as reductions in weight over other fastening methods. Additionally, manufacturers can select adhesives that are flame retardant, resistant to fatigue, chemicals, and temperatures, and with mechanical properties that vary from rigid to flexible and offer long-term durability. These products are specified in numerous OEM applications ranging from interior parts such as seats, lavatories, overhead bins, galleys, and monuments to exterior parts such as nacelles, landing gear doors, and control surfaces.

EPOCAST® high-performance epoxy edge and void fillers are designed for reinforcing honeycomb composite panels in aircraft floors, galley walls, overhead bins, bulkheads and more. These products are available in self-extinguishing or flame-retardant versions to meet FAA regulations. EPOCAST® void fillers are produced in a range of densities to meet a variety of performance and handling requirements. Many of our edge sealing materials feature easy-to-apply viscosities, as well as sag-resistance properties for use on vertical surfaces.

EPOCAST® laminating systems are designed for use in the manufacturing and repair of composite radomes, fairings, flight control surfaces, and cargo/cabin panels. These systems offer excellent mechanical strength and many are flame-retardant.

URALANE® polyurethane adhesives provide superior joining and bonding solutions for acrylics, plastics, and metals primarily used in aerospace interior assemblies. URALANE® adhesives are available in flame-retardant versions that meet stringent flammability requirements in aerospace applications. Huntsman adhesives offer productivity and manufacturing process improvements, as well as reductions in weight over other fastening methods. Additionally, manufacturers can select adhesives resistant to fatigue, chemicals and temperatures, with mechanical properties that vary from rigid to flexible and offer long-term durability. These products are specified in numerous applications ranging from interior parts such as seats, lavatories, overhead bins, galleys and monuments to exterior parts such as nacelles, landing gear doors and control surfaces.

DeoxIT® D-Series.
General purpose cleaner, for all metal surfaces with severe oxidation and corrosion. If there is a discoloration of the metal (visual signs of oxidation/corrosion) - it is considered severe. Use DeoxIT® D-Series to dissolve contamination, improve the connection as well as lubricate and protect the surface.

For reference, DeoxIT® has approximately 20% cleaning action.

DeoxIT® Gold G-Series.
For plated surfaces (gold and other precious metals). Recommended for critical applications where only slight cleaning action is necessary. If the surface looks clean, applying DeoxIT® rst is usually not necessary. If
small amounts of oxidation are present on the surface, DeoxIT® Gold will dissolve them. Apply DeoxIT® Gold after DeoxIT® D-Series on plated metal surfaces, except where noted with DeoxIT® Shield below. The more
critical the connection/part, especially low current applications, DeoxIT® Gold should be the final step.

For reference, DeoxIT® Gold has 0.5% cleaning action for removing minor amounts of oxidation.

DeoxIT® Shield S-Series.
Suitable for all metal surfaces to seal, lubricate and protect. Recommended after DeoxIT® for best protection or on NEW metal surfaces (usually in the manufacturing process). Also ideal where high degrees of pollution (sulfur, salts, acids, etc.) are present. DeoxIT® Shield should be applied to clean surfaces - after applying
DeoxIT®, using ultrasonics or other cleaning methods.

For reference, DeoxIT® Shield has 0% cleaning action. Use only on clean surfaces

DeoxIT® Fader F-Series.
DeoxIT® Fader F-Series is a precision lubricant specically formulated to improve conductivity and lubricate conductive plastic and carbon compound faders, switches, and other similar components.

DeoxIT® Grease M260 & L260.
DeoxIT® is manufactured in semi-solid form for use as a combination cleaning, deoxidizing, protecting, and lubricating preparation. Greases protect against
oxidation (galvanic corrosion) and are free of mineral acids, sulphurs, alkalis and other noxious components aggressive to metals. DeoxIT® Greases improve
performance of electrical contacts and mechanical components that require precise lubrication. DeoxIT® Greases are available with a variety of conductive and non-conductive particles or with no particles.
